NYC Health + Hospitals/Coler on Roosevelt Island

Momo is a 2015 female yellow Labrador Retriever that was trained in Texas at Drachten Performance and donated through Healing Pause to the Coler Hospital on Roosevelt Island in 2020.  She lives full time in the hospital and works with three handlers to cover the various units, events, and situational therapy that she is trained to perform.  Momo is characterized by her unreactive relaxing presence that just oozes calm.

Formerly known as Bird S. Coler Hospital, NYC Health + Hospitals/Coler has provided exceptional care to New Yorkers for more than 60 years at its Roosevelt Island location. The facility was named after Bird Sim Coler, New York City’s first comptroller. Throughout his political career, Coler fought against corruption and authored many books on municipal government.

The facility officially opened its doors in 1952. Today, Coler offers comprehensive short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care services at the same picturesque location.
